Every veteran has a story, and most never get asked. I started The Unsung Veteran to sit down, one veteran to another, and listen — whatever they want to share. No agenda, no pitch. Just their story, told straight.
— John "Goofy" Smith ยท MSgt, USMC (Ret.)
Most veteran shows pick a lane — combat, transition, business. This one doesn't. When a veteran sits down with me, I ask what they want to talk about, and I listen. Why they joined. A day they can't forget. The transition. What they carry now. No hero narratives, no agenda, no pressure. Just two people talking, like a debrief between peers.
I spent 20 years in the Marine Corps, mostly in aviation, and I started this channel because I felt called to — to make sure these stories don't go unheard. Every veteran has one. This is where they get told.

Maybe it's you. Maybe it's someone you served with. This show is for the story, not a sales pitch — so I read every message myself before we set a time. Here's how it works:
Tell me who the veteran is and what their story is about. A short paragraph is plenty.
If it's a fit for a real, person-first conversation, I'll reach back out myself.
From there I'll send a link to book the recording. Easy.
Or write me directly: [email protected]
After every episode I write up the conversation and a short debrief — the parts that stuck with me. That's where this community lives between episodes. It's free, and it comes straight to your inbox.
